Tashkent - Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow

How do you remember Tashkent in old days? How this, one of largest and greenest cities in former Soviet Union, changed today? And how will you expect to see Tashkent after a few or many years? Some people dislike it and while others fell in love with this Central Asia's amazing city. How do you personally feel about this part of the world?

  1. As far as I'm concerned Tashkent wasn't modern, developed and wasn't very beautiful in USSR. However, now, it is one of the most beautiful city in the world. In my opinion it the only green city, if you look from up you can see how it is green and beautiful. Day by day it is developing and becoming modern as other cities like Tokyo, London and Paris =). Well, I suppose it will become very modern soon. =)))

  2. Well Doston don't forget that in 1961 (I guess) when a deadly earthquake hit Tashkent our city was completely destroyed and citezens from around former USSR were sent into Tashkent by order to help Uzbeks to restore their fully collapsed city's infrastructure. And I think this how we have different nationalities living in Tashkent by now as well.

Tashkent also is also the only Central Asian city which has a Metro. But what I hate about Tashkent is that in some parts of the city morale is quite low. For example, let's take Metro, when trying to get a tokin (jeton) everybody seems to get into the tokin desk all together and at the same time. To make things even worse, person who is responsible for selling tokins alweays does her 100 % best to smuggle you a torn or very bad quality soum notes. When you return it and ask her to give a nice one, she curles her lips and offers you another one which is more or less the same quality. And I say Good Lord, ok!!!! He,he, he!!!!

And are you sure that Tashkent is becoming a modern city like Tokyo, London and Paris??? How do you know??? :--))))

  3. Well Mr.Akmal if you have paid attention new modern buildings are appearing in our city. To be honest buildings are not skyscrapers but they look like other cities' buildings. Because some countries helping us to develop. On the other hand, our lovely bazars becoming like boutiques. Light traffics are changed to modern l.traffics (with time) in some places. Also there are parks to relaxing (not with attractions) with benches and bla bla bla

  4. Yeah I agree with buildings and others. However, you said that bazars are becoming like boutiques and do you think it is good??? I think bazars are good and smth unique. They are smth that you can't find anywhere in Europe or US. I think we should keep our bazars the way they are. They are funny and exotic in the eyes of tourists and foreigners in Uzbekistan and it is good for Tashkent's tourism industry.

As regards to Traffic lights, yes I saw them and they are really cool. But there are only 2 or 3 of them in the city centers. :--(((

What do you hate or dislike in Tashkent??? For example I hate that service in Tashkent is one of the worst and lowest in the world!!!!!

Cmooooooooooooooooon guys, be more ACTIVE!!!! :--))))

  7. I agree with Doston that Tashkent become modern city with beaytiful buildings, parks and monuments and it's cool. I can say that I love Tashkent very much may be because I never seen other towns. But there are many disadvantages that tashkent become modern: traffic problems and a lot of people. In Another way Tashkent became noisy and cramped.

  8. Hello) I think that Tashkent is not so busy and noisy as Moscow or New York, but time is changing and our city is changing too! Every day begins contruction of new modern buildings and sometimes we don't think about historical places in Tashkent! In my opinion that the most destructive for Tashkent was cutting down our square! It was so ancient and popular part of city! But I hope that our city will become more beautifull and modern than now but of course we musn't foget about old parts of OUR TASHKENT!

  12. Guys please don't forget to follow subject+verb+object formula when you are writing your comments. For example, I did my homework yesterday. I (subject)+ did (verb)+my homework (object)+yesterday (time). Also pay attention to your spelling.

Every time when you have written your comment, please go up and read it down again to check if your sentences don't have a lot of mistakes.

Don't forget to support your position with ideas, arguments and examples. For example, if you think that Smoking must be banned, don't just say that you agree with it. Please explain why you agree and why your position is correct.

ANYWAY TAKE IT EASY and enjoy the writing process!!!!

  13. In Tashkent I don't like BUSES especially drivers and also conductors they are rude and crazy. For example bus full of people and driver race with another rival bus. Conductors shout like they are at elder aunt's home. It is crazy. Also most of people not cultural look around when you sit in public places you can see how they are "CULTURAL".

  14. To Mr.Akmal
You right about bazars but it is not our care. It is something polit... game. So we can't protest to this. Anyway boutiques also good because there is no any problems, you just come into boutique and choose what you like and go. In summer there are air conditions but in bazars you can't see air conditions. There would be only native air conditions.
